Gaming Report for 2008 The Palm Area of the hotel turned out to be a good spot for non-RPGA Gaming again this year. Both the LARPs did fine this year, as did the d20 Star Wars demo games. Only one of the scheduled events didn’t run (Inspector Parker), but not for want of trying! Hopefully, we will get the go-ahead from Oberon Games to allow a live version (or a tabletop version) to run at next year’s convention. Game Room Schedule (non-RPGA) Friday
Saturday
Sunday
ConDor People BingoPeople Bingo was such a big success last year that we are bringing it back for ConDor 2008. The object of the game is to collect signatures of attendees, guests, and staff who meet the criteria of any one slot on the People Bingo “Cards”. You may not sign your own card. Any individual may only sign one spot on each card. Complete a bingo (complete a row, column or diagonal) and bring it to the ConSuite for a ribbon. Bring in a completely filled-in card by the deadline and receive an entry in our prize drawing to be held on Sunday at 3:30 PM in the ConSuite. There will be two cards handed out at Registration. Card I will be handed out 11AM Friday thru 2 PM Saturday, or until they run out. Card II will be handed out 3 PM Saturday thru 2 PM Sunday. One card per person please. Starlight Dreams at ConDorHigh King David is gone. The Parliament of Dreams is in indefinite recess and war tears across the Kingdoms of Concordia . The Kingdom of Pacifica has always been a place of progressive thought and freedom. Queen Aeron kept an "open court" where all were welcome. This caused Pacifica to fall into chaos and anarchy as the Second Accordance War spilled across its borders. However, tragedy struck and a Fomorian plot was uncovered. The Courts of Summer and Winter have now joined hands to banish Old Enemies back to the Darkness. Winter brings with it night, but still the kithain hold starlight dreams in their hearts. A Duchy at war is now at peace, and The Queen's Own openly serve the interests of the Dual Queens and protect Pacifica's citizens from the legions of nightmare. The County of Balboa is the shining, jeweled center of the newly-formed Duchy of Starlit Waters. At its heart rests The Throne of Seasons, an ancient relic that grants its bearer control over the Trods of Balboa. Since a Regent sits upon it, the 14 noble Houses compete for the Throne's favor, while the mysterious House Danaan, ruling House of Arcadia, returns to face the Fomorian threat. Pawn, Schemer, Hero, or Lackey, what role shall you play in the game of the Throne of Seasons? Here at Condor, this episode of Throne of Seasons will deal with the mysteries of the Underworld, the land of the dead. The Changelings have long avoided and feared the cold and colorless lands of the dead. However, due to ancient rituals and pacts between the Courts of Stygia and the ancient ancestors of the fae, the Tuatha De Danaan, the local changelings of the County of Balboa will have to face the darkness beyond the Shroud...the barrier between the lands of the living and the Kingdom of the dead.. Starlight Dreams Productions is a Mind Eye's Theater Troupe which runs San Diego's longest-running and largest Shining Host Live Action Role Playing Chronicle. It is now in its second chapter, a tale of romance, intrigue and politics known as The Throne of Seasons. Starlight Dreams Productions uses the basic rules in The Shining Host LARP book, based on White Wolf's Original World of Darkness game, Changeling: The Dreaming. If you have a character in mind for play please email the Storyteller via our feedback form as larp-starlight. Otherwise, there will be pre-gens available for play the night of game. Due to mature content all participating players must be 13 years of age or older. ShadowLords at ConDorWelcome to the World of Darkness, old school style. The ShadowLords Independent Troupe will be hosting a vampire LARP on March 1st from 10 PM to 2 AM. As the theme of ConDor this year is on “Death and Beyond,” we will be exploring the ‘beyond.’ Hopefully, you will not be exploring Final Death, but step carefully. Something out there is just not right…… OOC: The ShadowLords, an independent Troupe that has been running since 1997, will host this game. Characters should be written up under the Laws of the Night (1999) rulebook. You will be allowed 25 points of experience, in addition to the 5 freebies (and any other freebies you take with flaws and negative traits). Contact Leslie McEuen, Storyteller, via our feedback form at larp-shadow if you have any questions. You may also email Character sheets to the Storyteller for pre-approval, to save time at the convention. Door characters will be available. Death Race 2008, A Scavenger HuntRacers wanted to compete in an action-packed challenge of brains, guts, and walking! The fiendish guys from the San Diego Rocket Race are back with a special Amazing Race-like challenge just for ConDor participants. Teams of two to four will be competing to escape with their lives by solving clues and puzzles to lead them around the convention grounds. Each team will need a sense of spooky adventure and a pen. Race registration begins on Saturday morning at 10 AM in the Palm Area (near the registration area). The race will begin at 11:30 AM and should last approximately 2 hours. The number of teams is limited, so sign up as soon as possible. Death Race 2008 is brought to you by James Floyd & Dan Hamman, organizers of the San Diego Rocket Race, an annual sci-fi themed urban puzzle race around town (www.sdrocketrace. com). How the race works: Upon the start of the race, each team will receive a packet of clues. When the clues are properly solved, it will direct the team to a location on the convention grounds where the team will be given a new packet. These clues will lead the team to another location, where more clues will be given out, and so on. Teams are free to use any resources at their disposal, including cell phones, spirit communication, internet-capable devices, asking their mummy, etc. in solving the clues. Teams are allowed to travel by any means possible, although the entire course can be covered on foot. Teams may consult with outside individuals or other teams, but no harassing other teams through physical, verbal or other means! If a team is stumped by a puzzle or clue, they may consult with the race staff for a hint. Seeking hints from the staff may yield a time penalty for the team, so think twice before calling upon the race staff for assistance in cheating death. When a team solves their final clue and reaches the finish line, their team name and finishing time shall be recorded, adjusted for any time penalties for hints provided. Fabulous prizes will go to the top teams who laugh in the face of death. D20 Star Wars Roleplaying GameDemonstration games of the new Wizards of the Coast's D20 Star Wars Roleplaying Game, using The Saga Edition Core Rulebooks will be run Saturday from 1-3 PM and 3-5 PM. There will be pre-generated characters available to play. If you would like more information, contact Gaming. Inspector Parker ‘Live’ GameAn adaptation of the popular and addicting Inspector Parker computer game will be held on Friday evening. This adaptation is a ‘live’ version reminiscent of the “How to Host a Murder” games that were popular several years ago. Given the clues, can you figure out where everyone & everything is in Misanthorpe Manor so that Scotland Yard can catch the killer? RPGA at ConDorWelcome to the seventh year of RPGA at ConDor! This year we will be running both Living Greyhawk and Living Kalamar modules. We have several Nyrond regionals and metaregionals, as well as some core modules. There’ll be plenty to keep you busy. Bonus! There will be an Early Bird RPGA slot on Friday morning for those players who pre-register by February 23rd, 2008. No walk-ins will be allowed to participate in this slot. RPGA Schedule: A full schedule of RPGA games is available on the web site: http://www.warhorn.net/ConDorXV/ , where you may pre-register for RPGA games. Pre-registration for games is available to paid attendees only. Other websites for RPGA: See you at the Games. |
