Wherever you wish to go in and around San Diego, the Town and Country Resort and Convention Center is a landmark in hotel circle just North of Highway 8.

Mass Transit
The Town and Country Resourtl is served directly by only one bus line, Route 14, but it is only about a fifteen minute walk, and not a brisk one, from the Fashion Valley Transit Center, which has both the Green Line Trolley and several major bus routes running through it.  Be a little careful crossing Fashion Valley Road, even at the traffic light at the intersection with Hotel Circle, especially in the evening.

Family Weekends : Every Saturday & Sunday, two children 12 and under ride free with any paying passenger 18 and over.

Route 14 runs right in front of the hotel, but only going westbound from the Old Town Trolley station;  the eastbound 14 runs along the southern side of the freeway (Interstate 8).  If you want to catch the 14 going eastward, you can walk to the Fashion Valley Transit Center.  On the weekends, Route 14 runs from the Old Town Transit Center to the 70th Street Trolley Station;  on weekdays, half the routes go further, to the Amaya Drive Trolley Station.  While the 14 starts very early in the morning, on the weekdays the last trip westbound from the Handlery departs at about 10:12, and on weekends it leaves at about 8:48;  eastbound, the last 14 leaves Fashion Valley at 10:01 and stops at 70th Street, and on the weekends the last 14 from Fashion Valley leaves at 9:31.

Here is a link to the Route 14 schedule:

Eastbound Trolley:

On Friday and Saturday, the last Green Line Trolley going east to Santee leaves Fashion Valley at 10:36 p.m.; on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the last Green Line Trolley going east to SDSU leaves very late, at 1:06 a.m.
On Sunday, the last Green Line Trolley going east to Santee leaves Fashion Valley at 10:06.

Westbound Trolley:

On all three nights, the last Green Line Trolley headed west departs the Fashion Valley station at 1:48 a.m., but it only goes so far as the Old Town Transit Center.  The last Blue Line to head south from Old Town towards Downtown San Diego, Chula Vista and San Ysidro leaves at 11:45 p.m. on Friday and Sunday, and at 12:45 a.m. on Saturday night/Sunday morning.

When planning to use the Trolley at Fashion Valley, bear in mind that while the busses can be caught at street level, the trolleys all use the elevated platform which is up four flights of stairs.  There is an elevator, but it is notoriously slow and sometimes breaks down.  Allow extra time to climb the steps, especially if you are toting luggage.

The Fashion Valley Transit Center is also served by Routes 6, 20, 25, 41, 120, 928, and 990.

Trolley fares differ according to the number of stations travelled through, with most trips costing $2.25, but only allow one-way travel.

Regional Day Tripper Passes allow unlimited travel for all MTS and Trolley routes for the days listed.

  • 1-Day Tripper:  $5
  • 2-Day Tripper:  $9
  • 3-Day Tripper:  $12
  • 4-Day Tripper:  $15

Regional Day Passes are available from ticket vending machines and from bus drivers and are good for unlimited rides on almost MTS Bus and Trolley routes (except Premium Express, Rural, ADA Paratransit, and Special Services) as well as NCTD BREEZE buses, SPRINTER and FAST. The Premium Regional Day Pass is valid for all routes covered by the Regular Regional Day Pass as well as MTS Premium Express Routes. Valid for partial fare on the COASTER (upgrade required).

The Green Line Trolley can take you east to Hazard Center, Mission Valley, or Fenton Parkway if you're looking for supper away from the hotel; or it can take you west to the Morena or Old Town stations.  There are quite a few places to eat, some cheap and some expensive, close to each of these stops.

Again, the trolley requires a ticket for travel in each direction, unless you buy a round-trip ticket at double the normal price.
